THE GATES OF MONFERRATO In this fantastic Tour we want to show you the beginning of this fantastic land and its gentle hills covered with vineyards. From Vignale Monferrato, the town of wine and dance, passing through Viarigi where the Torre dei Segnali is located, this is the symbol of the town, so much so that it appears in the coat of arms of the municipality; it is originally part of a chain of lookout and signaling posts, between Viarigi, Montemagno and S. Salvatore Monferrato. With the latter, we read in the texts, "communication was by means of fires, smoke and mirrors", a real leap back in time. Continuing the excursion we will arrive at Fubine Monferrato, the name derives from “fibulina” (small buckle/buckle factory), in reference to the activity that took place there in ancient times: the “fibulines” were factories of “fibulae” much sought after for Roman clothing, Fubine Monferrato is documented from 1041 as Fibline, in a deed of 26 January of that year the emperor Henry III confirms the possession of Fubine (“medietatem Fiblinis”) with the castle and the churches to the bishop-count Pietro II of Asti. We will continue the tour passing through the fantastic valley of Cuccaro, San Lorenzo and we will arrive again at Vignale M.to
